THE PURGE

Ah… the pre-move phase seems to have no end. The stucco ceiling is EVENTUALLY done, the kitchen is half way to be finished, the electric and water supplies are half done, the floorings are almost done inside the house, the painter is due within two weeks, and… I do hope to be home by Christmas.

In the meanwhile, I am still going through the “getting rid of the stuff I don't want or need to take with me” phase. This weekend was the turn for memories. My two son’s little blankets, shoes, toys, clothes, notebooks and whatnot. And to be honest… those have been the hardest things to get rid of. Linen, kitchenware, furniture, and lots of clothes were easily packed to be given to people that could use them, but I did not expect it would be so hard to let go objects linked to the sweetest memories from the past 30 years.

After having sorted through my son’s bedrooms, I ended up packing most of what they left behind when they flew away from the nest... I guess I shall bring my memories along, to the new house.
